Mascot Workwear Jacket Collection Review
A closer look at the Mascot Workwear jacket range
Mascot are renowned for their commitment to their workwear clothing. Work jackets and work coats for all types of weather conditions are an essential part of a worker’s getup, and Mascot knows this. They supply everything from hi-visibility coats to trendy Mascot pilot jackets, all of the same high quality.
With a wide assortment of fleece jackets, softshell jackets and winter jackets, among plenty more, they probably have a workwear jacket to meet your needs. Each Mascot workwear jacket is designed with a specific industry workers needs in mind and thoroughly quality tested. As such, you can easily find garments with special certifications that will protect you from the cold, rain and wind as standard, but also with many other specific features that help during a hard day’s work.
But do these Mascot work jackets really live up to this hype? Our Gurus decided to find out, and had a closer look at various coats from all across Mascot’s many ranges to find out.
Mascot Alaska Pilot Jacket – (00516-620 Pilot Jacket)
First up is the Mascot Alaska pilot jacket. This pilot jacket, often called a Mascot bomber jacket, has a neat profile while still affording a comfortable, spacious fit, which is crucial when active on a worksite.
Mascot pilot jackets have been equipped with practical pockets on the inside and out, as well as being made from breathable material.
The Mascot Alaska workwear jacket has an outer layer which has been made from Bearnylon, which is a water and stain-resistant material. It also happens to be an extremely durable material, so using it in workwear can extend the life of products, making your money go further. Mascot years of research and development working in the industry are shown by valuable extras like this.
The Alaska pilot jacket happens to feature pile lining on the body and quilt lining in the sleeves, for more of a gap between the body and the fabric and for padding respectively.
Mascot Hastings Winter Jacket – (15535-231 Winter Jacket)
Second, we have the Mascot Safe Supreme Hastings Winter Jacket. This Mascot hi vis jacket comes in a variety of two-tone fluorescent colours to help you stand out while at work. The dark contrast colour in each of these options has been specifically designed to be placed where the jacket is most exposed to dirt, such as the bottoms of the sleeves and jacket, to prevent the more vibrant hi-vis sections becoming duller. Additional reflectors on the back of the Hastings coat provide extra visibility if needed.
As for the features of the Mascot Hastings jacket, it is breathable, windproof and waterproof thanks to the taped seams. It has an extended back when compared to other winter jackets which provides extra protection against the cold.
Our Gurus loved the utility of this jacket and how fit it was for winter conditions. The padding and quilted sleeves really reinforce the comfort and warmth needed for colder conditions and the vast variety of pockets can hold everything from a 9.4 inch tablet to even having a mobile pocket with wire holes in so that headsets can be easily plugged in and used without being damaged by the weather. These zipped pockets in particular are concealed underneath storm flaps.
Mascot Blackpool Softshell Jacket – (15502-246 Softshell Jacket)
Next is the Mascot Blackpool Softshell Jacket. Since this Mascot hi vis jacket (link to hi vis article) is a three-layer softshell, it is comfy on the inside due to a fleece-layer, but is breathable, windproof and highly water-repellent on the outer layer. Interestingly, the Mascot Blackpool jacket doesn’t have any seams on top of the shoulders, which means that water can’t penetrate the jacket from above.
Our gurus loved how durable and practical the Blackpool Jacket was. Everything from the ergonomically shaped sleeves that enhance freedom of movement, to little touches like the wrist being reinforced with Cordura fabric to extend the life of the jacket, further enhanced by Ripstop material being used in key areas throughout the Mascot Softshell Jacket. A particular highlight from their perspective was the extended sleeve on the back of each hand, which offers further protection against cold and snow.
The Blackpool Jacket features an ergonomic fit and plenty of customisation options. For example, the lined hood is detachable and comes with an adjustable drawstring, to make it just right for you. In addition, there are a multitude of zipped pockets on the Blackpool jacket, some of which are accompanied by storm flaps, to stop moisture getting in through the zips. Across these, there includes a mobile pocket, pen pocket, front, chest and inner pockets.
The Blackpool Jacket is features in our Mascot Hi Vis review article if you would like to take a close look.
Mascot Savona Parka Jacket – 00930-880 Parka Jacket
The Mascot Savona Parka Coat is made from Mascotex, which is a fabric Mascot have coined with a breathable laminate on the back, making the material waterproof. If you are working in heavy rain, a Mascotex coat such as the Savona will be a true asset. The Mascotex material is certified for EN 343 protection against rain and every coat made with it has taped seams ensuring that Mascotex truly is 100% waterproof.
As part of the Mascot Safe Image range, the Savona jacket was developed in conjunction with test groups from a wide range of working industries, to ensure it met their daily needs. For example, they found that some workers preferred to have the option to zip out the quilted lining on the inside of the jacket.
Utility-wise, the Mascot Savona Parka Jacket is covered in storm flaps, fastened through hidden press studs, which conceal multiple zipped pockets for those items you need to keep extra secure. These same press studs are also incorporated around the collar so that a hood can be attached if required, offering a little more customisability.
