If you want to be warm and snug at work without simultaneously being bulky and weighted down, a work fleece jacket may be just what you need. The extra weight of a thicker, more heavy-duty work jacket makes it harder to move around quickly and freely which may reduce the wearer's comfort and potentially restrict your movement options. A fleece gives you the same warmth a heavy-duty jacket would, but in the form of a single thin layer.
Fleeces can be worn on their own as a warm layer for those chilly mornings, but also as the middle layer that goes over a baselayer and that is itself covered by a separate work jacket. Our fleece jacket range has been built with both of these configurations in mind. Since they must be prepared for use as two different layers, fleece jackets must be prepared for both, resulting in many of our fleece jackets being water-resistant and breathable yet still is excellent at retaining heat to maximise comfort. Given the adaptable nature of fleeces, security fleece jackets are a particularly sought-after type, as security can be stationed outdoors where temperature and weather are most impactful, and the customisability of fleeces is most appreciated.
The addition of storm flaps on some fleece jackets also gives the jacket a degree of windproofing. The same can be said of those fleece jackets with extended backs, which give you extra protection from adverse weather. Therefore, fleece jackets are a great choice for both cool and damp working days.
The fit of work fleeces
As comfort is a priority when it comes to fleece jackets, a great fit is of great importance. To help the wearer get comfortable, our fleece jackets utilise stretch materials, which allow the jacket to conform to the body of the wearer. In addition, many of our fleece jackets come with adjustable elastic drawstrings and elastic inserts to ensure the jacket offers a modern, close fit all over the body. Most of the elastic are also adjustable, so you can loosen or tighten the fit to a level you prefer. Some of our fleeces, including a few of our Blaklader work fleeces, feature Cordura reinforcement, on key exposed areas like the sleeves, elbows, and shoulders, which helps to extend the life of the fleece jacket and reduce the effects of wear and tear on the garment.
